Basepan Heater (Drain‑Pan Heater)

A small electric heater located under the outdoor unit’s drip pan (base pan) of a heat pump. It keeps any condensate or snow meltwater from freezing on the pan or clogging the drain in cold weather. By preventing ice buildup in the base of the outdoor unit, it ensures the unit can continue operating in cold climates without water freezing and blocking airflow.
